A crocheted bag without a lining is a "half" bag. The lining is what transforms a handmade bag into something professional. It's not difficult: with the simplest method, it takes 1-2 hours, no sewing machine needed. ✨
The 3 main methods for lining
Method 1: Glued lining (1 hour) — for those who have never sewn
Textile glue is used to attach the fabric to the inside of the bag. You'll need: cotton fabric (50×50 cm), textile glue, scissors, ruler. Cut 2 rectangles, fold the edges, glue along the inner perimeter. Let dry for 24 hours.
Cons: glued lining cannot withstand water washing.
Method 2: Hand-stitched lining (2-3 hours) — the middle ground
Cut 2 rectangles, sew 3 sides together to create a "pouch," insert it into the bag, sew the top edge to the inner edge of the bag with hand stitches. Durable and washable.
Method 3: Tailored machine-sewn lining (3-4 hours) — professional result
True lining with internal pockets and zipper option. Requires a sewing machine and basic tailoring skills. The result is indistinguishable from a professional bag.
